Cosi - a play by Louis Nowra

Set in a mental institution in 1970, Cosi explores the experiences of a first time director rehearsing a production of Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte with the institutions patients. As the Vietnam war protests take place outside, Lewis becomes emotionally involved with the actors' lives.
‘Mad actors are bad enough, but madmen...’

‘They are normal people who have done extraordinary things, thought extraordinary thoughts.’

‘Love is an emotional indulgence for the privileged few.’

‘Love is what you feel when you don’t have enough emotion left to hate.’

'Without love the world wouldn't mean much.'

‘The music of this opera keeps the world in harmony.’

‘Comedy is better when it’s real.’
